Now I might be stating the obvious here but I don’t think that Apples ‘Tablet’ is coming in the usual iPod refresh talk sometime in September. Continue Reading

A 14 year old girl had her ipod to thank after she was struck by a 300,000 volt lighting bolt, Sophie Frost and her boyfriend had been sheltering from a thunder storm under a tree (Not the best of ideas) when the bolt struck and apparently her ipod diverted the powerful bolt. Continue Reading

Microsoft have released some details of the next gen Zune, It’s going to be called the Zune HD and supports a lovely OLED screen. Microsoft have released this press release:
Available in the US this fall, Zune HD is the first portable media player that combines a built-in HD Radio re ceiver, high-definition (HD) video output capabilities, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touch screen, Wi-Fi and an Internet browser.
It’s going to support HD Radio, which is only currently available in the US, and it puts DAB to shame with over 2,000 stations broadcasting on HD Radio. Major car manufactures like Audi, BMW and Ford all build in HD Radio by default.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the Zune HD will be making it over to the UK, SImply because we don’t have as strong of a digital radio network as the US do. They could build DAB into it I guess, But DAB is useless most of the time with quality differing and only a handful of stations broadcasting on it here in the UK.
Looks like we’ll just have to stick with our iPods! Oh well!

LETS ROCK!
Well it was iPod refresh day today and boy did we get our plateful! We got a new iTunes update, New iPod Nano designs, A new iPod Touch design and more!
Nano:
Well I have to be honest from the spy shots I didn’t really like it! It does look pretty neat with the colours they have now though but the ‘nano-chromatic’ name? No thanks! The new features are as follows. New cover flow just like the touch. The accelerometer work when you turn it on your side coverflow appears! Also now when you shake the new nano it shuffles to a new track. Neat! Also the new ‘Genius’ playlist creation system, which find songs that are supposedly ’similar’, is built in as well. The new UI is exactly, well not exactly, like the touches. It’s all pretty nice. I think I’m going to run down to Curry’s and have a feel
Touch:
The touches turn next! Personally I’m a touch owner and I wish I had this. the touch now has a lovely shiny metal curved back. Also the new touch has a built in speaker just to annoy people on the bus Basically like a metal version of the iPhone 3G. No new features apart from the ‘Genius Playlist’ built in on the move. Also the Nike+ trainer is now supported and looks fantastic! I seemed in the Keynotes that apple are pushing it for the gaming side now with the App Store. Titles soon to be released include Need For Speed and more!
Hang on a minute jobs, Your dieing!
Well no he isnt, but as a funny little sidenote he flashed up a slide quoting Mark Twain saying “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated” What a genius!

I have now upgraded to 2.0 on my iPod Touch and am pretty dismayed with the App Store. Yes, they are some great apps on there but I think they’re some missing and are in desperate need of creation. One of the ones I think needs to be made is a Windows Live Messenger App. It would be perfect! I think there’s loads more potential out there and I want to know your dream apps! Leave a comment and tell me!
