Right as you may know Xbox live is getting all this cool content such as Sky TV, Facebook, and Last FM, But what does PlayStation have ?PlayStation 3 already has an Internet browser that can access the likes of Facebook and twitter,but you can pick up an Xbox 360 for around £130 and the cheapest PlayStation costing around £270. So should Sony be worried about all this?
Microsoft recently announced they have a struck a deal with Sky, that enables Xbox live users to be able to watch sky content, we still don’t know if this will cost extra etc. So does Sony need to compete with Microsoft and offer something as good. Of course they do. So recently they have released “Vidzone” a free download from the PlayStation Store, That allows users to watch over 25,000 music videos and listen to 1.5 million tracks. All this for free. Yes this isn’t no sky but PlayStation does already offer Play TV that you can watch television programmes on, again not Sky but it is all the channels you get on Freeview and you can record programmes onto your PlayStation hard drive. Also users can access BBC’s iplayer via the Internet browser.
So with all this content coming to Xbox Live,It looks like PlayStation has something to compete with and the PlayStation network is free to all PlayStation users, Whilst Xbox live costing up to £40 a year. It looks Sony has nothing to worry and I wouldn’t suggest you sell your PlayStation for an Xbox. Im sure the console war will bring much more exciting content over the coming months.
